Warner Bros. Publications, in collaboration with Warner Media Services, have finalized the packaging design for the first ever 3-inch DVD planned for release into the retail marketplace sometime later this summer.
Although 3-inch discs were included in the original DVD spec in 1996, the format (similar to the 3-inch CD) have not been manufactured until now. This new way of enjoying DVD video plays in all standard set-top DVD players and its pocket-size format allows for easy mobility and usage. The smaller sized discs have a reduced capacity, but can be used conveniently for small presentations such as advertisements or music videos.
The first set of 3-inch DVD releases will come from Warner Bros. Publications’ Tune Buddies, the first live-action series introducing children to the musical instruments. Further titles are expected to be announced soon.
