More details on Warner’s Waiting for Guffman

Previously announced for an upcoming DVD release, Waiting for Guffman now has some official details that we can give you.

The town of Blaine, Missouri is preparing for celebrations of its 150th anniversary. Corky St.Clair, a small time director is putting together an amateur theater show entitled “Red, White, and Blaine” about the town’s history, starring a mixed bag ensemble including a local dentist, a couple of travel agents, a Dairy Queen waitress, and a car repairman. Certain of a success, St. Clair invites the elusive Broadway theater critic Mr. Guffman to see the opening night of the show. Anticipation of the arrival of the enigmatic Guffman has the whole production excited. But no one knows if he’ll actually show.

The “Waiting For Guffman” DVD is in 16×9 widescreen format and contains 14 additional scenes specially compiled by director/actor Christopher Guest, a feature length commentary by co-writers, Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy, the original theatrical trailer, extensive production notes and subtitles in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

The disc is still on schedule for an August 21st release date. Suggested retail price for the disc is $19.98.
