Jason returns to DVD in Friday the 13th Parts V and VI

Last Friday was one of the two Friday the 13ths this year. What better time to announce the arrival of everybody’s favorite hockey masked psychopath in two more installments of the long running film series on DVD? Paramount Home Entertainment has decided to unleash Jason on disc in Friday the 13th 5: A New Beginning and Friday the 13th 6: Jason Lives.

Jason is back, hockey mask and all. And he’s up to his old maniacal tricks in “Friday the 13th, Part V: A New Beginning.” This time he seems to have set his sights on the young patients at a secluded halfway house. And more than a few of his teen targets end up in half, in quarters, you name it, Jason does it. “Friday the 13th 6: Jason Lives” brings the story to Tommy Jarvis. As a child, Jarvis did what many others died trying to do, he killed Jason Vorhees, the mass murderer who terrorized the residents of Cyrstal Lake. But now, years later, Tommy is tormented by the fear that maybe Jason isn’t really dead.

Both films will come with an anamorphic widescreen transfer preserving the films original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Parts V and VI will contain their original respective mono and surround audio tracks. Neither disc will contain any features to speak of, but will both come with an original theatrical trailer.

September 25th will see the release of both DVDs priced at $24.99 apiece.
