Artisan is set to release Startup.com

The World Wide Web has permeated our society and become an inescapable paradigm in just a few years. But few people really know the world that unfolds behind the browsers. Directors Chris Hegedus and Jehane Noujaim take a startling peek into the world of the dot-com industry with the documentary Startup.com. Artisan Home Entertainment brings the film to a much wider audience than it received in limited theatrical release with a new DVD this fall.

Childhood friends Kaleil Isaza Tuzman and Tom Herman launched govWorks.com, an award-winning website meant to reduce bureaucratic hassle. The drama begins immediately as they court and placate new business partners, skeptical employees and slippery venture capitalists. But the film’s most engrossing battle slowly emerges between the two friends: Tuzman, a Harvard business grad, and Herman, an overwhelmed single father unwilling to sacrifice his family for a successful IPO.

The Startup.com DVD will be released with soundtracks available in Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 as well as two audio commentaries from the “stars” Tom Herman and Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, and the directors. Two special featurettes will be included; Startup Again (Where Are They Now) and Documentarians on Documentary,. Other features include theatrical trailers, cast and crew information and production notes.

“Startup.com” will be coming to DVD on September 18th for $24.98.
