Andrew Lloyd Webber comes to DVD

Fans of the works of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber will be pleased when Universal Studios Home Video releases the live concert Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Royal Albert Hall Celebration and a new Ultimate Edition DVD of the celebrated musical Cats.

The Royal Albert Hall in London comes alive with performances from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s greatest productions. Packed with star power, fans will want to own performances from Donny Osmond, Glenn Close, Antonio Banderas, and Sarah Brightman in “Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Royal Albert Hall Celebration”.

The most famous musical of all time returns, from the award winning and critically acclaimed duo Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The DVD special features are seemingly quite limited for an Ultimate Edition DVD. They do however include interviews with composer Andrew Lloyd Weber, stage director Trevor Nunn, choreographer Gillian Lynne, set designer John Napier and producers Cameron Mackintosh and Gerry Sheonfeld. In addition, makeup designer Karen Dawson Harding will discuss her approach to creating the stunning Cats character makeup while illustrating her techniques by making up three of the actors on camera.

October 30th will see the release of both “Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Royal Albert Hall Celebration” and “Cats: Ultimate Edition” on DVD. They will be available for $24.98 and $26.98 respectively. The discs will also be available together in a boxed set with two of Webber’s other popular musicals currently available on DVD; “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Jesus Christ Superstar”. The boxed set will be priced at $89.98.
