The Coen’s Blood Simple comes to DVD

The Coen Brothers, now famous for their film successes including “Fargo” and “O Brother, Where Art Thou” started their film careers with the brooding mystery Blood Simple. Universal will present the film on DVD for the first time later this fall courtesy of Universal Home Video.

“Blood Simple” follows a Texas bar owner who hires a private detective to kill his wife and her lover, but things don’t go as planned when double-crossing and betrayal abound. Filled with the Coen Brothers’ unique style, “Blood Simple” is a dark and disturbing film which features Oscar-winner Frances McDormand in her first film role.

Currently no information is available on whether the DVD will present the film in its original form or as the slightly shorter and tighter 1998 directors cut. When the version and features for this disc are announced, the information will be posted here.

The new DVD will be available on September 18th with a suggested retail price of $24.98.
