Software developer Sonic Solutions and video system producer Avid Technology have begun working together to provide more accessible DVD authoring systems. Sonic’s new AuthorScript software provides a library of Advanced Programming Interfaces and C++ runtime libraries for video decks to provide more effiecent MPEG and DVD capabilities. The software will be incorporated into Avid’s Symphony 3.1, Media Composer 10.1, Xpress 4.1 and Xpress DV 2.0 editing systems.

Accoring to Avid Vice President Rob Korbin, “By integrating Sonic AuthorScript technology into our editing systems, we are enabling video and film editors to publish directly to DVD from their Avid editing systems. With the arrival of low-cost DVD recorders, Avid and Sonic are giving users the capability to publish DVDs for their own use and to expand the services that they offer their clients,”
