The classic 1958 Steve McQueen sci-fi flick, The Blob has been released on DVD, but the less celebrated 1988 remake has been virtually ignored since its release. Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment has rectified that situation with a shiny new DVD release of the updated version of the film.

More graphically realistic than ever, “The Blob” has returned in this horrific tale about a vile, malignant life-form that crashes to earth in a cozy, rural American town called Arborville. Untroubled by conscience or intellect, the Blob does only one thing-and does it well. It eats anything and everything that moves.men, women, children. And tonight it wants to swallow Arborville whole.

The new DVD will be relatively barren save for a theatrical trailer, but the film will be given an anamorphic widescreen transfer in its original aspect ratio and a Dolby 2.0 soundtrack from the film’s original release.
