Heathers gets a full makeover from Anchor Bay

Anchor Bay Entertainment has discontinued production on the Michael Lehmann’s fresh black-comedy Heathers. But fear not, the movie will be returning as a new special edition that should delight fans of the dark quirky film, and exclusively, we have a full listing of details of that new disc for you.

Popularity is the fundamental commodity of any high school. In Veronica’s school, the popularity is controlled by the Heathers, a trio of girls who share not only first names and fashion sense, but also a smug distaste for their fellow students. Veronica despises the Heathers despite her constant effort to be accepted into their circle at any costs. After all, sacrifices must me made in the name of popularity. But the stakes rise and the sacrifices change when one of the Heathers commits suicide and the balance of popularity is forced to shift. Soon the other Heathers are dead, and Veronica begins to wonder if the deaths were suicides at all, or something far more wicked.

The new THX-certified disc will be given an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. An audio commentary will feature the voices of director Michael Lehmann, producer Denise Di Novi and writer Daniel Waters. Other supplements new to this DVD include the Original Ending from the screenplay, Swatch Dogs And Diet Coke Heads: An all new 27-minute Documentary featuring interviews with Stars Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, Shannen Doherty, Lisanne Falk, director Michael Lehmann, writer Daniel Waters, producer Deinse Di Novi, director of photography Francis Kenny and editor Norman Hollyn. Further, a Theatrical Trailer, Talent Bios and Closed Captioning for the Hearing Impaired will be included on this disc.
