The Great Muppet Caper comes to DVD

This July Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will release Jim Henson’s second Muppet Motion Picture, The Great Muppet Caper. The DVD will join Henson’s other films “The Muppet Movie” and “The Muppets Take Manhattan” which will both be available in June.

When famous fashion designer Lady Holiday (Diana Rigg) reports her priceless diamond necklace stolen, investigative reporters Kermit and Fozzie are on the case! Starved for a story, the two new journalists head for London, without the foggiest idea where to begin. The plot thickens when the goods are found on one of Lady Holiday’s models: Miss Piggy! It’s up to Kermit and his Muppet sleuths to catch the real robbers red-handed before Miss Piggy winds up in the pen.

Like the other two upcoming Muppet DVDs, “The Great Muppet Caper” features a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and a fullscreen presentation of the movie on the DVD, complemented by a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track in English, as well as Dolby Surround tracks in English, French and Spanish. As bonus materials, the disc will contain three Muppetisms and a number of trailers.

“The Great Muppet Caper” will be the fourth Muppet film to be released on DVD, joining “The Muppet Movie” and “The Muppets Take Manhattan” coming this June, and the existing release of “Muppets from Space”. The remaining two Muppet films, “A Muppet Christmas Carol” and “Muppet Treasure Island” are still MIA. “Caper” will be available July 10th, and will have a suggested retail price of $19.95.
