New information on The Fugitive Special Edition

New details have arrived on the upcoming re-release of Warner Home Video’s 1993 thriller, The Fugitive Originally released as one of the studio’s first discs in 1997 with a fairly weak video transfer and virtually no features, this new Special Edition finally gives the film (nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture) the treatment it deserves.

The Fugitive is on the run! Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones race through the breathless manhunt movie based on the classic TV series. Ford is prison escapee Dr. Richard Kimble, a Chicago surgeon falsely convicted of killing his wife and determined to prove his innocence by leading his pursuers to the one-armed man who actually committed the crime. Jones is Sam Gerard, an unrelenting bloodhound of a U.S. Marshal. They are hunted and hunter. So catch him if you can.

The new Special Edition DVD will contain a new digital transfer in anamorphic widescreen with a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio tack. New features on the disc include an all-new introduction by Harrison Ford, Andrew Davis and Tommy Lee Jones, two new behind-the-scenes documentaries, “On the Run With the Fugitive” and “Derailed: Anatomy of a Train Wreck” featuring cast and crew recollections and previously unseen footage and the original theatrical trailer.

While not as loaded as some recent Special Editions, this new edition of “The Fugitive” looks to be a very nice package, and a marked improvement over the previous release. The DVD will street on June 5th, and have a suggested retail price of $24.95.
