More info continues to arrive on the upcoming Die Hard Ultimate Collection, and this new info is looking pretty fantastic for fans of the series. In addition to the technical features listed earlier, each film is brimming with supplements.
Die Hard 2: Die Harder features an audio commentary with director Renny Harlin, The HBO First Look special “The Making Of Die Hard 2”, the original making-of featurette, deleted scenes, three visual effects sequence breakdowns and side-by-side comparisons, two mini featurettes on the film’s stunts, trailers and TV spots.
Die Hard With A Vengeance includes an audio commentary with director John McTiernan, the CBS television special “A Night To Die For, previously released on VHS HBO First Look special”The Making of Die Hard With A Vengeance“, the original making-of featurette, an alternate ending, three special effects and stunt breakdowns, a storyboard sequence, trailers and TV spots.
But unquestionably, the crown jewel of this set is the 5-star Collection of Die Hard, which includes two audio commentaries, the first with director John McTiernan and other cast and crew, and the second with special effects supervisor Richard Edlund, a subtitle commentary with cast and crew (similar to those found on ”Ghostbusters“ and ”The Abyss“), the original making-of featurette, deleted scenes, a gag reel, original newscast footage seen in the film (an interesting feature which Fox seems to be embracing since its success on ”Independence Day”), an editing suite and sound mixing studio interactive feature, three interactive magazine articles, a still gallery, typical DVD-ROM features, trailers and TV spots.
Fox has truly outdone themselves with this set. In addition to a wealth of publicity information, the studio seems to be embracing more interactive content, which should make the experience all the more pleasant. Unfortunatly, we’ll have to wait until July 10th to get our hands on this beauty.
