Already announced for a release on June 5th, Columbia TriStar Home Video has announced the full specs of the upcoming Region 1 release of this year’s Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Winner of four Academy Awards and nominated for Best Picture of the Year, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” is the epic of a powerful sword and those who try to wield it. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of feudal China, the film’s beautiful artistic style, realized by director Ang Lee, follows the paths of Li Mu Bai and Shu Lien in a magical journey to recover the stolen sword.

Released in an anamorphic widescreen version, and with a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix in Mandarin, English, and French, the DVD will also contain many exciting features. An audio commentary by director Ang Lee and producer/co-writer James Schamus will be available. Also included is the exciting behind-the-scenes special “Unleashing the Dragon”, hosted by none other than the film’s star Michelle Yeoh.

Coming June 5th with the somewhat unusual suggested retail price of $27.96, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” is a welcome addition to the Columbia Tristar’s DVD catalog.
