We have just received information that Buena Vista Home Entertainment has scheduled the action thriller The Yards, starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Joaquin Phoenix, James Caan, Faye Dunaway, and Ellen Burstyn for release on April 17.
After serving time in prison for taking the fall for a group of his friends, Leo Handler (Mark Wahlberg) just wants to get his life back on track. So he goes to the one place he thinks will be safe – home. There he takes a new job with his highly connected and influential Uncle Frank (James Caan), and is reunited with his longtime friend, Willie Guitierrez (Joaquin Phoenix) and Willie’s girlfriend (Charlize Theron).
But in the vast New York City subway yards, where his uncle now pulls the strings, safe is not how they do business. Unwittingly, he’s drawn into a world of sabotage, high-stakes payoffs and even murder. And the secret he discovers will make him the target of the most ruthless family in the city…his own. Now, in the name of justice, he’ll have to do everything in his power to take them down.
“The Yards” will feature a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer of the movie in its original theatrical 2.35:1 aspect ratio, with a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track. It also contains a Behind-The-Scenes Featurette, a running length Commentary Track, a gallery with Concept Art and the film’s original Theatrical Trailer.
While this sounds like a great movie with quite some interesting extras, the suggested retail price of $32.98 is a bit hefty.
