Muad’Dib is alive and kicking, and on March 20, Artisan Home Entertainment will release the TV mini-series Dune, based on Frank Herbert’s classic novels. After its successful television debut on the SciFi channel recently, the 5-hour mini epic is now coming to DVD as a 2-disc set that also includes a few interesting supplements.
William Hurt stars in this epic presentation of Frank Herbert’s visionary masterpiece of galaxy-spinning intrigue and adventure! In the far future, the remote desert world of Dune becomes the epicenter of a spectacular struggle that will spark a revolution, fulfill an ancient prophecy and forever change the galactic balance of power.
Conceptualized for high definition television broadcast, “Dune” will be presented in a 2.00:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer on the DVD with a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track.
But apart from this exciting presentation, the DVD will also contain a 30-minute Documentary, an Interactive Treatise by cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, called “The Cinematographic Ideation Of Frank Herbert’s Dune” as well as an extensive Photo Gallery. Production notes trailers and TV spots will round out this exciting release that will carry a suggested retail price of only $24.98.
