One of Hollywood’s most touching romantic films is making its DVD debut on April 24 through Paramount Home Video when Love Story hits retail stores.
This heartfelt 1970 tale of the love of a lifetime – the most successful Paramount movie up to that time – received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and won one for Francis Lai’s magnificent score.
As filming was underway on Love Story, the filmmakers knew they had something special – so special that Erich Segal was simultaneously shaping his best-selling novel from his own screenplay. Stars Ryan O’Neal and Ali MacGraw each received Academy Award nominations and became overnight movie sensations for their poignant portrayals of a young couple who cross social barriers, marry and ultimately face the greatest crisis of all.
The DVD will feature an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the movie and contain English and French Dolby Digital mono audio tracks. A commentary track by director Arthur Hiller will give you additional insight in the production and the film itself. “Love Story: A Classic Remembered” is a documentary that will also be part of the release. The release is rounded out by the movie’s original theatrical trailer.
Prepare those Kleenexes for an emotional ride through the highs and lows of a relationship when “Love Story” comes to DVD on April 24 at a suggested retail price of $29.99.
