‘Blair Witch 2’ will be first combination DVD/CD disc

We’ve just received some interesting information about Artisan Home Entertainment’s upcoming DVD of The Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.

The company has announced that this movie will be the first to be released as a DVD+CD (TM), a dual-sided disc that delivers DVD content on one side and CD music on the other side. The new technology will allow users to view the film, its extra chapter materials and DVD-ROM extras on one side and then flip the disc and play the film’s soundtrack on the CD side. While all DVD players are able to play both DVDs and CDs, this new combo disc allows users to play the CD soundtrack in cars and portable CD players.

‘The Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2’ DVD+CD includes the theatrical film in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, as well as audio commentary with director Joe Berlinger, DVD-ROM enhanced features with weblink access, and a bonus feature, ‘The Secret of Esrever,’ a special featurette that, when played backwards, gives clues to discovering mysterious and ghost-like images hidden within the feature film itself, all on the DVD side of the disc.

The CD side of the disc includes songs from the film’s soundtrack including ‘The Reckoning’ by God Head (as well as a live version of the song from the Blair Witch Webfest), ‘Tommy Don’t Die’ by Tony Iommi, featuring Dave Grohl, and ‘Goodbye Lament’ by Steaknife, as well as the complete film score by Carter Burwell.

Pricing and release dates have not changed. ‘Blair Witch 2’ is scheduled for release on March 13th, with a suggested retail price of $24.98.
