Relive the glory days of The Boss on 2 new DVDs

Bruce Springsteen fans who can’t get enough of The Boss in concert will soon get the opportunity to relive the experience at home. This January, Columbia Records, courtesy of Sony Music, will be releasing two new Springsteen DVDs: Bruce Springsteen: Video Anthology 1978-2000, and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: Blood Brothers.

The DVD version of “The Anthology” is an update of the 1978-1988 version. The set is split into two discs: The first houses the original 18 tracks, and the second contains 15 new ones, some of which have never been seen before. Among the previously unreleased tracks are ‘If I Should Fall Behind’ (with the E Street Band), a clip filmed at Madison Square Garden and directed by Jonathan Demme; ‘Highway Patrolman,’ directed by Sean Penn; ‘Hungry Heart,’ filmed in Germany in 1995; and an alternate version of ‘Secret Garden,’ with strings.

The second disc also includes some of the Boss“ rare television appearances, including ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ from ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ and a solo acoustic version of ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ from ‘The Charlie Rose Show.’ Both discs combined have a running time of just over two hours. Sound is presented in both Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and PCM 48Khz 16-bit Stereo soundtracks for your listening enjoyment.

”Blood Brothers“ is the Ernie Fritz-directed documentary of Springsteen’s 1995 reunion with the E Street Band during the recording of extra material for ‘Greatest Hits,’ the first time they’d worked together since 1984’s ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ The show originally aired on the Disney Channel in March 1996, and it was released on VHS format the following November. The DVD includes lyrics and other extras, including music videos for ‘Murder Inc.’ and ‘Secret Garden.’ As on ”The Anthology’, audio is available in both Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and PCM 48Khz 16-bit Stereo.

Both ‘Bruce Springsteen: Video Anthology 1978-2000’, and ‘Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: Blood Brothers’ will be available on January 16th. The suggested retail price is $29.98 and $24.98 respectively.
