Birds of a feather will flock to La Cage Aux Folles this October

We’ve just received notice that MGM will be releasing the hysterical La Cage Aux Folles as well as its sequel, La Cage Aux Folles II to DVD this October.

The film stars Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault as two men who live together and work at a drag nightclub. When Ugo’s son decides to marry a young woman, the daughter of an incredibly conservative government official, he must introduce the prospective in-laws by inviting the girl’s parents to dine at the men’s home. The confusion that results from attempting to hide the two men’s flamboyant lifestyle results in some of the funniest scenes ever filmed. La Cage Aux Folles was the largest grossing foreign comedy of its time, and was recently remade as The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. Here’s your chance to see the original.

What we know so far is that the films will be in their original French language with English subtitles, will feature Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, and each package will feature the original trailer.

Both discs will be released on October 3rd and will carry a suggested retail price of $19.98.
