Amazon.com to offer refunds on DVDs

Amazon.com customers who didn’t receive the lowest possible price during price testing of Amazon’s DVD video offerings will receive refunds, the company confirmed Wednesday.

As reported, this month the company conducted price tests in its DVD store, randomly changing the price of DVDs in select cases to see whether customers would pay more or less for a given item. Because some Amazon.com customers paid more than others, the company is refunding the difference from the lowest price paid.

Amazon.com will continue to conduct price testing on its Web site, but will, as a matter of policy, offer refunds to anyone who paid a higher price as part of the test.

DVD customers were expected to receive e-mails notifying them of their refunds on Wednesday.
