Production bottlenecks force Terminator 2 on 2 discs

The demand for Artisan Home Entertainment’s Ultimate Edition of Terminator 2: Judgement Day has caused quite some ripples in the industry. Not only did the extremely high demand for this title cause some clogging in the duplication industry as replication facilities struggle to churn out the dual-layered, double-sided (DVD-18) discs, it has also affected other publishers, such as Image Entertainment, who are now on backlog with their DVD-18 title, “I, Claudius” because their suppliers have no capacities left to produce additional copies.

To solve the problem, and to make sure that Artisan can meet the high demand for “Terminator 2,” the studio decided to create a solution. Along with the originally planned DVD-18 version of the movie, Artisan is producing a 2-disc set of the DVD that contains two DVD-9 discs. DVD-9 can be produced much faster and will thus allow Artisan to make sure that everyone who wants the “Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition” will get one. Apart from the different disc usage, there will be no differences between the two versions, and the 2-disc set will also be released with the aluminum metal sleeve, identical to the DVD-18 version.
