Microboards Technology announces Desktop DVD Authoring System

Microboards Technology Inc. announced a new DVD video desktop authoring solution for Windows NT users that turns their systems into a powerful, low-cost DVD Video creation platform. Shipping will start in mid-August.
Called DVDAuthorSuite Desktop, the system combines Microboards’ complete MPEG 2 encoding software with AuthorQuick Desktop DVD authoring software into a feature-rich bundle.

Priced at $2650, DVDAuthorSuite Desktop is targeted toward education, prosumer and government video applications. Among the encoding software’s major features are a flexible constant bit rate between 2-15 Mbps, automatic I-frame insertion, and Adobe Premier plug-in. DVD authoring software features include video: NTSC and PAL support; audio: Dolby digital and PCM support, multiple overture (still, motion picture with audio), multiple menu and more.

‘DVD AuthorSuite Desktop was designed to make DVD-Video title production more affordable for the prosumer and educational markets,’ said Chuck Alcon, vice president of sales/new business development. ‘Although it’s priced for low-end users, its robust software features make it a greater value than any other competitive package.’
Among the other key features of the software are: motion picture menu, automatic free shape button creation, chapter editor, on-the-fly subtitle editor and multi-language audio and subtitle for up to three channels.

‘Because DVDAuthorQUICK desktop runs on Windows NT, it doesn’t require a specific workstation or other high-end system –and, the user won’t need special knowledge of DVD specifications,’ Alcon explains.

System requirements include Windows NT operating system with 400 MHz, 96 MB minimum memory, SVGA video card, and 9 GB HDD (recommended). DVD-R 201 or DLT4000XT drives are recommended.
