HEAVY METAL 2000 being polished for release.

On October 17th, Columbia Tristar Home Video will release HEAVY METAL 2000 on DVD. This animated feature is based on a story by Kevin Eastman (of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fame), ‘Heavy Metal 2000’ tells the tale of sci-fi heroine Julie (Julie Strain), a steel-eyed huntress and expert warrior, tracking a group of ruthless space pirates, led by the evil villain Lord Tyler (Michael Ironside).

Apart from its unique animation, one of the most integral aspects of Heavy Metal 2000 is its music which includes the first original recording by Bauhaus in 17 years, plus unreleased and/or exclusive music by Billy Idol, Monster Magnet, MDFMK, Pantera, Machine Head, Insane Clown Posse, and many others.

The disc will feature a Widescreen transfer, Letterboxed at 1.85:1, and Enhanced for 16X9 TVs, and a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. Also included will be 2 Featurettes: the first is ‘Julie Strain: Super Goddess’; the other focuses on the voice talents used in the movie. There is also an Isolated Music Score; Animation Tests; Trailers; Animatic Comparisons, and a Photo Gallery.

The disc will carry a suggested retail price of $24.95.

On the same date, Columbia Tristar Home Video will release Heavy Metal 2000/Heavy Metal (Special Edition) . This is a 2 pack set of the previously released ‘Heavy Metal’ and ‘Heavy Metal 2000.’

The set will retail for $47.95.
