Frosty & Rudolph bring holiday cheer to DVD

The Sony Music Corporation is gearing up for the holidays by releasing some TV holiday favorites to DVD this September.

First up is Frosty The Snowman/Frosty Returns. This is a double feature DVD that includes: Frosty the Snowman (1969, 22min.), an animated television special based on the classic song about a magic snowman who comes to life and befriends several children; and Frosty Returns (1993, 24min.)–In this sequel, Frosty reappears to befriend Holly and help save Christmas from the invention of an evil snow-exterminating chemical. The shows feature the voices of John Goodman, Jonathan Winters, Jimmy Durante, June Foray, Billy De Wolfe, Jackie Vernon, Paul Frees, and Elizabeth Moss.

The disc is Full Frame and will feature an introduction with the show’s creator, Arthur Rankin; and an animated pencil test.

Next is a personal favorite: Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer (1964).
Stop us if you’ve heard this one: Santa can’t find his way to guide his sleigh through a blizzard. Fortunately for him, there is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Shunned by the others because of his glowing nose, Rudolph becomes a hero when he guides Santa through the storm.

Featuring the voices of Burl Ives, Billie Mae Richards, Larry D. Mann, Stan Francis, Paul Soles, and Janis Orenstein, the holidays aren’t really here until this one gets a showing.
This disc is also Full Frame and comes with: an introduction with the show’s creator, Arthur Rankin; ReadSpeak patented action captions; interactive Rudolph trivia game; ‘Fame and Fortune’ and an original promo–not seen in 30+ years.

Both discs will be released on September 12th and will carry a suggested retail price of $19.98.

Burl Ives singing ‘Silver and Gold’ is nostalgic enough to be worth the price alone…
