Forum to teach web-enhanced DVD production process

Sonic announced today the launch of a 42-city seminar series entitled eDVD – Making DVD and the Internet Work for You to be offered September through December of this year. The seminar is designed to help creative professionals learn about the latest developments in DVD technology with a special focus on web-enabled DVD production.

Designed to assist video post production facility owners and managers, corporate communications groups, video production managers, multimedia publishers, and DVD title authors, Sonic’s eDVD seminar series will introduce attendees to all of the steps involved in authoring DVD titles and integrating their DVD content with the Web. In addition, the sessions will cover how to leverage cDVD(TM) technology to create DVD titles that play from CD-ROMs on virtually any PC.

Special attention will be taken to explain how DVD producers can create high-quality DVDs directly from their non-linear editing systems by using Sonic’s production systems that seamlessly convert video from Avid, Media100, Final Cut Pro or other non-linear editing systems into interactive MPEG-2 video and Dolby Digital audio.

‘With the rapid adoption of the DVD format at the consumer level, interest in how to produce DVD titles continues to explode. DVD authors are also realizing that by linking high-bandwidth DVDs to flexible web content, you can deliver truly compelling information that is of the highest quality and remains up-to-date,’ said Dan Leighton, Vice-President of Marketing at Sonic. ‘Sonic has created this seminar series to provide a hands-on look at the steps involved in producing web-enhanced DVD titles using the latest eDVD technology, sharing the insight Sonic has gained as the foremost supplier of DVD production systems.’

Step-by-step demonstrations of the DVD production process will feature solutions such as DVD Creator, the worldwide system of choice for professional DVD production and DVD Fusion, an advanced DVD production system designed to integrate seamlessly with nonlinear video editing systems.

The first of the eDVD seminars will be held in Miami, with additional seminars scheduled in cities worldwide, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, London, Paris, Milan and more, through December 2000.
