A double dose of Sandra Bullock as Columbia announces 28 Days and Net

Columbia TriStar Home Video just announced two new DVDs starring Sandra Bullock, scheduled for release on September 19 as a double-pack. The set will contain 28 Days and The Net and will carry a suggested retail price of $44.95.

In 28 Days, Gwen Cummings (Sandra Bullock), a spunky NY journalist and ultimate party girl, loves to have a good time. Trouble is, she never can tell when she’s had enough. When she borrows her sister’s (Elizabeth Perkins) wedding limo and plows it into someone’s front porch, the wild life she shares with her boyfriend Jasper (Dominic West) comes to a screeching halt. She herself a DUI and a 28-day stretch in rehab. There, she faces an unthinkable set of rules (no cell phones!) and some strange rituals, like chanting and … (gulp!) sharing her feelings. Joining up with an eccentric group of fellow rehabbers led by the inimitable Counselor Cornell (Steve Buscemi), Gwen embarks on a poignant and often hilarious road to recovery where she learns that life is not always a party and that real happiness comes from within.

Coming as a special edition, the disc will feature an anamorphic widescreen version of the film with a 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track. The DVD also features a commentary track by director Betty Thomas, producer Jenno Topping, editor Peter Teschner and composer Richard Gibbs. A “Making Of” featurette can also be found on the disc, as well as “Santa Cruz Soap Operas: The Lost Episodes”, three character testimonials, and the movie’s isolated music score, among others. This disc will also be available separately on September 19.

In The Net, Sandra Bullock stars as a shy and lonely computer analyst who spends her nights chatting with other shy cyber-jockey’s on the Net. One night she accidentally stumbles onto a deadly conspiracy and the life she has created for herself pushes headlong into the middle of a murderous web of corruption.

The DVD features an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a full screen presentation with a 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track and has no notable extra materials.
