The toys are on the move again – welcome Toy Story and Toy Story 2 this fall

While the wave of announcements for films that have been eagerly awaited for the longest time is still going strong, Buena Vista Home Entertainment just released details about upcoming DVD versions of the Pixar anmiated features Toy Story and Toy Story 2. Both titles will finally make their DVD debut on October 17 in a variety of incarnations. You will be able to pick up each film separately for $26.99, or you can get a 2-disc box set that contains both and carries a $39.99 price tag. Additionally to this version there will be a 3-disc set called The Ultimate Toy Box which contains both films plus a third disc of supplements that will retail for 69.99.

The 2-disc set will include THX-certified anamorphic widescreen versions of the films as well fullframe presentation with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio tracks. Like animation studio Pixar did for their release of “A Bug’s Life, ” they have created a digital-to-digital transfer for the movies for this DVD for the best possible picture quality. The release will also contain a commentary track by the filmmakers and a “Making Of” documentary that are taken form the Laserdisc release, as well as the short films “Tin Toy” and “Luxo Jr.”

The 3-disc set of “Toy Story 2” will feature a feature newly recorded audio commentary by the filmmakers together with an isolated sound effects and film score track. The third disc in the “Ultimate Toy Box” will feature an introduction by the filmmakers to some of the material from the movie. Documentaries like “The Making of Toy Story,” “The History of Toy Story” and “Moviemaking Secrets Revealed” will introduce you into the history of both films and their creation. Music videos, original song demos, early computer tests and other extras will also be found on that disc.
