Ravisent receives Microsoft Hardware Quality Labs certification for Cineplayer

Ravisent Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:RVST) today announced that its award-winning CinePlayer all-software media player has officially received Microsoft’s Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) certification. Developed using Ravisent’s family of industry leading software components for digital multimedia and datacasting processing, CinePlayer is an all-software media player supporting a wide variety of formats including DVD. CinePlayer received WHQL certification on a Gateway PC powered by a 733 MHz Intel Pentium® III processor combined with ATI’s Rage 128 GL chip.

CinePlayer was developed using Ravisent’s CineMaster® family of integrated software components for digital multimedia and datacasting processing. Incorporating the CineMaster® digital audio/video decoder, CinePlayer is a high performance all-software PC media player solution designed to decode DVD, Video CD, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video streams; as well as CD audio, Dolby
Digital AC-3, LPCM, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 digital audio formats. The application shares the same robust software core as the CineMaster family of products that are in use by major PC OEMs, video graphics and video game manufacturers. CinePlayer and the CineMaster family of digital media components assist OEMs to meet rapidly changing consumers preferences in record time at a low cost. CinePlayer is the first software-based DVD solution that can be integrated with a family of digital media processing components to deliver both decoding and encoding capabilities, as well as supporting cutting-edge HDTV (High Definition Television) decoding on multimedia PCs.
