Paramount ramps up August releases, inclduding the Naked Gun trilogy

This morning new information about a series of new titles from Paramount Home Video came in to complement the studio’s August release line-up. First off there is the classic Western Shane, starring Alan Ladd and Jean Arthur, scheduled for August 15. The DVD will feature a fullscreen presentation of the movie with a remastered Dolby Digital 3.0 and a Dolby Surround audio track. As special feature you will get a commentary track by the director’s son George Stevens Jr. and Associate Producer Ivan Moffat.

And then there is the entire Naked Gun trilogy, also scheduled for release on August 15. These hilarious films will no doubt be the comedy highlights of August, especially since these discs will also feature commentary tracks. But first things first…

The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad! will be presented in an anamorphic widescreen presentation with a remastered 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track in English and a French mono track. The disc will contain a comedic commentary track that is hosted by actor Peter Tilden and features director/writer/producer David Zucker and producer Robert Weiss.

The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell Of Fear is the second film in the series and it will also come in an anamorphic widescreen presentation with remastered 5.1 Dolby Digital and Dolby Surround audio tracks in English. This disc, too, will feature an running length audio commentary track by David Zucker, Robert Weiss and Peter Tilden.

And then there is of course The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, also presented in anamorphic widescreen with a remastered 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track in English and Dolby Surround tracks in English and French. I am sure you are not surprised to hear that this disc, too, will feature a running length audio commentary track, this time featuring writer/producer David Zucker and producer Robert Weiss, but also including director Peter Segal and Associate Producer Michael Ewing.

All titles will carry a suggested retail price of $29.99 when they will be released on August 15, and also contain trailers. Additional titles scheduled for release on August by Paramount Home Video are Tycus on August 8, as well as Deterrence and The Next Best Thing on August 29.
