Paramount prepares more Peanuts and also gives Blue a new home on DVD

After firmly establishing its DVD titles in the living rooms of movie fans, Paramount Home Video is now also beginning to target the whole family and children. After the announcement of the upcoming release of the Peanuts movie It’s The Pied Piper, Charlie Brown, Paramount today announces more titles down those lines, scheduled for release in September and October.

On September 13, Paramount will release a Peanuts gift Set, featuring three beloved Peanuts Holiday classics. It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas will be included in this box set that carries a suggested retail price of $57.97. All three discs of the set will also be sold separately for $19.99. The DVDs are presented in standard format, while the audio tracks feature Dolby Digital English Mono.

In “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” the Peanuts gang celebrates Halloween and its legends. Teased by the others as he anxiously awaits a visit by the mysterious Great Pumpkin, Linus is convinced that this time he’ll be able to prove the Great Pumpkin’s existence to the rest of the gang. Meanwhile Charlie Brown gets invited to a big Halloween Party that requires his finding the perfect costume. The DVD has been re-mastered to include the short feature “You’re Not Elected Charlie Brown.”

In “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”, Peppermint Patty invites herself and the whole Peanuts gang over to Charlie Brown’s house for a Thanksgiving celebration. The Thanksgiving dinner turns out to be a disaster, until chef Snoopy and pilgrim Woodstock come and save the day, teaching the gang the origin of the holiday in which thanks is given. The DVD has been re-mastered to include the short feature “The Mayflower Voyagers.”

In “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism that manifests itself during the Christmas season. Seeing that he is upset, Lucy suggests that he become the director of the school Christmas pageant. Accepting the challenge, Charlie Brown finds himself faced with a real test of the season. When he fails to restore the holiday spirit, Linus jumps in to teach Charlie Brown the true meaning of Christmas. The DVD has been re-mastered to include the short feature “It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown.”

Nickelodeon’s #1 preschool franchise is coming to DVD on October 3 in Blue’s Big Musical Movie. It is Blue’s first feature-length movie, introducing six brand-new songs, as well as Blue’s newest friend, Periwinkle, and featuring the voice of Ray Charles as G-clef.

On the day of Blue’s big backyard musical show, Steve, Blue and all their friends wake up bright and early to organize their highly anticipated musical called “You Can Be Anything You Want To Be.” With props to build, costumes to make, snacks to bake and songs to sing, Blue and Tickety Tock begin to rehearse their duet, when Tickety Tock realizes that all of her practicing has made her lose her voice. With little time to spare, Blue organizes an impromptu game of “Blue’s Clues” to find out who will sing with her at such short notice. Everyone soon uncovers a variety of hints and signs that lead Steve and Blue to Periwinkle, the newest cat in town, who also wants to perform in the backyard show! Meanwhile, when Steve and Blue skidoo into a sheet of music to create a song for the musical, they meet G-Clef (voiced by Ray Charles) and his friends The Notes (voiced by The Persuasions), who teach them the elements of music. Building a song from scratch, Steve and Blue learn that notes, rhythm and tempo joined with a little heart and soul are all you need to make a truly original song.

The DVD will contain the film’s original fullframe presentation with a Dolby Surround audio track. The disc also features the behind-the-scenes featurette, “Backstage at Blue’s Clues – A Sneak Peak for Parents,” two music videos (“I Can Be Anything I Want To Be”; and “There It Is” – with vocals by Ray Charles), and a “Who am I?” menu guessing game for kids, along with the savings booklet. Blue’s first DVD will carry a suggested retail price of $24.99 and will be available on October 3.
