Anchor Bay releases a nicely restore version of Repo Man

As we have told you before, Anchor Bay Entertainment has been working on a release of the 1984 comedy Repo Man starring Harry Dean Stenton and Emilio Estevez. Finally we have been able to take a look at the final features of this release and would like to report on the release here.

Newly restored, the movie is presented in a THX-certified anamorphic widescreen presentation on this DVD for the first time, in the movie’s original 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio has been remixed and Anchor Bay brings you a full Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track of the movie, as well as a Dolby Surround track. The disc also features a newly recorded audio commentary track featuring actors Sy Richardson, Zander Schloss and Del Zamora, together with the movie’s executive producer Michael Nesmith, and director Alex Cox, as well as casting director Victoria Thomas. The special features for this release are limited to the movie’s trailer and cast biographies, but the presentation of the film itself will easily make you forget about that.

“Repo Man” is scheduled for release on August 22 in two versions, a regular release and a Limited Edition that will be sold in a metal case, limited to 30.000 numbered units. The Limited Edition will also contain the Repo Man Soundtrack CD and a 24-page
booklet with liner notes and rare film and behind-the-scenes photos. Although the release is still almost two months away, we have been able to take some screenshots of the disc’s menu screens for your viewing please, so please, stop by our Menu Gallery if you are interested.
