Image prepares extensive promotions for Peter Frampton: Live in Detroit

Image Entertainment Inc. today announced a wide range of promotional plans on behalf of the May 16 DVD
and videocassette release of Peter Frampton: Live in Detroit. Tie-in partners include CMC International Records, Gibson Musical Instruments, Harman Kardon International and Infinity Speakers. Image Entertainment and CMC International Records are working in tandem to promote “Live in Detroit,” which will be released on DVD and videocassette by Image, and on Compact Disc and audiocassette by CMC. Tower Records will be conducting a Peter Frampton trivia hunt that incorporates custom splash pages on corporate and fan-based Web sites for Peter Frampton, Tower Records, Harman Kardon and Infinity.

The contest, which runs from May 22 to June 28, will award one lucky winner with a complete home entertainment system including a Harman Kardon receiver, a DVD player and an Infinity Home Theater Sound System. Retail value of the prize exceeds $4,000. Banners on participating Web sites, as well as a full-page ad in Pulse Magazine’s June issue, will direct consumers to the special entry page on Towerrecords.com.

Earlier this year, Gibson Guitar’s Custom Art and Historic Division unveiled a Peter Frampton Signature Les Paul guitar. The renowned instrument company will be providing two of these distinctive guitars for “Peter Frampton: Live in Detroit” consumer contests with DVDPlanet.com and Wherehouse stores/Checkout.com. Each guitar carries a suggested retail price of $5,800. This promotion will run from May 16 (street date) through June 13.

Transworld Stores“ Internet arm, TWEC.com, will offer customers who purchase ”Peter Frampton: Live in Detroit“ an exclusive download of the song ”Somethin’s Happening,“ which is not available on the audio release. TWEC.com will also host a live Frampton chat on May 18 at 9 p.m. EST. During the chat, Frampton will design a one-of-a-kind commemorative plate with song lyrics, to be given away to a consumer. ”Peter Frampton: Live in Detroit“ will have a presence on various retail Internet sites, too. Amazon.com conducted an interview with Frampton for the site. Two exclusive video streams are playing at DVDPlanet.com. Audio downloads will be accessible on various Web sites, including Barnesandnoble.com, CDNOW.com and TWEC.com.

Frampton will kick off the ”Peter Frampton: Live in Detroit“ promotional campaign with an appearance on ”Late Night With David Letterman“ May 15. He will follow this with interviews on ”Live With Regis and Kathie Lee“ and the nationally syndicated radio show ”Rockline’ on May 16. An in-store appearance at Sam Goody, in the Chicago area, will be held on May 20. His U.S. concert tour commences in June and runs through mid- October. In the June issue of Home Theater Magazine, an extensive profile on Frampton will appear along with a detailed account of the Chuck Ainlay multichannel mixing sessions that were done for the project in Nashville. The state-of-the-art audio mix for the DVD will be presented with Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS on the same disc, as are most of Image’s higher-profile music releases.
