Going for a swim – Columbia announces Drowning Magnolias so to say…

Columbia TriSar Home Video has just unveiled details about the DVD release of Drowning Mona. Starring Bette Midler, Danny DeVito, Neve Campbell and Jamie Lee Curtis, this is a hilarious comedy about a hateful woman, driving her car into the river and dies, everyone in the white trash town becomes a prime suspect.

The disc will feature a 16×9 widescreen transfer of the movie, as well as a pan and scan transfer and a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track. “Drowning Mona” is scheduled for release on July 25 and will carry a suggested retail price of $25.95.

Columbia TriStar has also scheduled Steel Magnolia for release on July 25. It is the 1985 star-studded comedy drama, starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis and Julia Roberts, that tells of the lives of several women who gather at the local beauty parlor in a small Southern town.

The disc will feature a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer as well as a pan and scan presentation and a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track.
