Fox goes Ape with a spectacular 6-disc box set of Planet Of The Apes

Long in development, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is putting the final touches to their DVD release of the entire Planet Of The Apes quintology. Priced $99.98, the films will be released as a limited edition 6-disc box set on August 15, containing all five movies of the series and an additional sixth disc with additional supplements. All films are THX-certified and presented in non-anamorphic widescreen transfers.

The films included in the box set are the 1968 original Planet Of The Apes, the 1970 sequel Beneath The Planet Of The Apes, the 1971 film Escape From The Planet Of The Apes, the 1972 sequel Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes and the 1973 grand finale, Battle For The Planet Of The Apes. Each of the DVDs includes the movie’s original theatrical trailer, cast and crew biographies, photo galleries for each movie and web links. “Battle For The Planet Of The Apes” will also contain a trailer for Fox Interactive’s new “Planet Of The Apes” computer game, as well as the entire Apes website as DVD-ROM features.

The sixth disc of the set will contain the critically-acclaimed two-hour documentary Behind The Planets Of The Apes, hosted by Roddy McDowell and featuring cast and crew interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, rarely seen screen tests, rare stills, concept art and storyboards from all five of the movies.

Called Planet Of The Apes: The Evolution this 6-disc box set will be limited to 150.000 copies and there are no plans at this time to release the films individually.
