Paramount prepares a solid package for The Talented Mr. Ripley – we have details

We have just been able to uncover details about Paramount Home Video’s plans to release The Talented Mr. Ripley on DVD this summer. Scheduled for release on June 27, this $80 million smash hit will be available at a suggested retail price of $29.95.

An adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s popular thriller, “The Talented Mr. Ripley” sees life through the eyes of Tom Ripley, a struggling New York City piano player who lives with his nose pressed up against the window of a world he yearns to join. Offered a short-term, high-paying job by the wealthy shipbuilder Herbert Greenleaf, Ripley is sent to Europe with $1000 and the mission to convince Herbert’s son to return home to America in time for the holidays. Arriving in Italy, Ripley becomes enamored with the carefree lifestyle of Dickie Greenleaf and his beautiful fiancée Marge Sherwood, who seem to be on perpetual vacation. Intrigued by the notion of living Dickie’s life, Ripley finally finds himself on the other side of the glass, and is determined to go to any lengths to stay there.

The DVD will feature a 16×9 enhanced widescreen version of the movie with an English 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track, as well as Dolby Surround tracks in English and French. The release will also contain an audio commentary track by director Anthony Minghella, exclusive cast and crew interviews, and an “Inside The Talented Mr. Ripley” featurette. An additional featurette that looks into the making of Academy Award-winning composer Gabriel Yared’s soundtrack for the film, as well as two music videos and a theatrical trailer can also be found on this day and date release.
