First Run Feature is bringing the Iranian tale of Leila to DVD

Independent publisher First Run Feature is bringing the Iranian tale of Leila to DVD on June 13. Directed by Dariush Mehrjui, “Leile” is a mesmerizing story of love, conflict and tradition. Leila is a young newlywed who must deal with the family and societal pressures when she learns that she is unable to have children. Her husband, Reza, is so in live with her that he is not troubled by the news and insists that he would be happy with her alone. However, his calculating, insensitive mother finds this unacceptable and browbeats Leila into convincing Reza to take a second wife who can bear children. Overcome by guilt, Leila obediently agrees and the heartbreak that follows is so eloquently recorded that the final outcome is practically devastating.

The DVD will come in its original Farsi language with English subtitles and will carry a suggested retail price of $29.99 when it hits retail shelves on June 13.
