Warner Home Video unveils official Stanley Kubrick website

We have just received information from Warner Home Video that the studio has just unveield the first and only official Stanley Kubrick website. Located at www.kubrickfilms.com it is a new web site dedicated to the late, legendary director Stanley Kubrick. It’s the company’s first major web site devoted to a single filmmaker and is authorized by and prepared with the help of the Kubrick estate.

Stated Anthony Frewin, one of Kubrick’s former assistants for more than 20 years, who worked with the family on this project, “With an abundance of the latest technology at his side, Stanley was a one-man electronic communications center who presaged the Internet and who saw its potential early on. He would always say, “You can never have enough information; you can never ask enough questions.” So this site is not only a tribute to his films, but also a vindication of his vision. We hope the information will prove vitally important to all of Stanley’s fans and followers; I know he himself would have enjoyed it.”

“Stanley Kubrick was a filmmaker for the ages — a pioneer and a visionary,” said Mark Horak, WHV’s senior vice president, marketing. “We are proud to have so many of his films in our library and to have had the privilege of working closely with his estate to create this site. We anticipate it to be a resource for Kubrick film buffs, as well as giving fans a further appreciation of his work.”
The Kubrick site includes the following features:

  • Frequently Asked Questions. Answers to questions about Kubrick’s life and work. Issues that have been argued and, in some cases, erroneously reported by other media, are addressed with official statements from the Kubrick estate.

  • Kubrick 101. A virtual film studies course, with Kubrick’s ground breaking innovations on each film analyzed in the context of filmmaking history and technique.

  • New Documentary. Up-to-date information about a new documentary being prepared by the Kubrick estate scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year.

  • Special Content: Galleries of rare Kubrick photos, multimedia vignettes about his life and work, a message board and chat area, biographical information, filmography and awards. Latest news and product information, translated into five languages, are also available.

  • Additional Elements Planned: Rarely seen photos, interviews with actors and peers of Kubrick, simultaneous DVD virtual theatre screenings and online chats with those who worked with or knew Kubrick during his 50-year career.
