Steely Dan comes to DVD courtesy of ImageEntertainment

Image Entertainment, Inc. today announced the June 13 release of Steely Dan’s “2 Against Nature Plush TV Jazz-Rock Party in hi-fi Stereo”, a live concert featuring material from the chart-topping album of the same name. Steely Dan’s “2 Against Nature” album was released on February 29 and entered the Billboard Charts at #6. The band begins a worldwide concert tour in Japan on May 14. The U.S. leg of the tour kicks off on June 13 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, coinciding with the home video release.

Steely Dan, comprised of Walter Becker (bass) and Donald Fagen (vocals and keyboards), has not released an album of new music since 1980’s bestselling Gaucho. The DVD of the concert, filmed January 28 – 29 at Sony Studios in New York City, will feature Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Multi-Channel audio tracks on the same disc. The tracks were recorded and mixed by Elliot Scheiner and Roger Nichols. The pair won Grammy Awards for their work on the band’s Gaucho and Aja. In addition, the program will feature exclusive interview footage of the band.

Included on the program are such Steely Dan signature-tunes as “Green Earrings,“” “Bad Sneakers,“” “FM,“” “Black Friday,“” “Babylon Sister,“” “Kid Charlemagne“” and “Peg.“” From the new album, the band performs the hit single, “Cousin Dupree“” as well as “Janie Runaway,“” “Gaslighting Abbie,“” “Jack of Speed“” and others.
