Image Entertainment, Inc. today announced the official launch of DVDPlanet, a direct-to-consumer e-commerce site, owned and operated by Image’s wholly-owned subsidiary, DVDPlanet.com, Inc. (formerly dba “Ken Cranes DVD and Laserdisc”). The new site will replace the existing KenCranes.com site.

Martin W. Greenwald, Image’s President and CEO, stated, “Through an enormous amount of work by all those involved in launching this site, our goal in having DVDPlanet up and running by April 1 has been met. With the official launch, I am looking forward to accelerated growth in our on-line DVD sales. Additionally, by the end of June, our Las Vegas distribution facility will be handling all of DVDPlanet’s warehousing and fulfillment. This should create significant operating leverages for DVDPlanet.”
