DVD Audio is still on hold due to security issues

According to an article in Video Business Magazine this week, DVD-Audio still has quite some obstacles to overcome before it will finally hit the market. DVD Audio, which is not to be confused with Musci DVD Video discs, had originally be schedules for release earlier this year, but the hacking of DVD’s encryption caused studios to yank their plans and to reevaluate their options.

The fledgling format’s lauch is still on hold due to these security issues, as it turned out during last week’s National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) convention. It appears there is still no common goal or timeable in sight for a rollout of the new format, so the wait continues.
