Columbia TriStar unveils details of The Guns Of Navarone

Columbia TriStar Home Video has finally unveiled the details about their upcoming release of the special edition of the war epic The Guns Of Navarone. Starring Gregory Peck, David Niven, Anthony Quinn, James Darren and Richard Harris, “The Guns Of Navarone” was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Music, Best Sound and Best Writing in 1961 and eventually won the 1961 Academy Award for Best Special Effects.

The special edition DVD Columbia will be releasing on May 23 will include an audio commentary track by director J. Lee Thompson. A series of documentaries en titled “Memories of Navarone”, “A Message from Carl Foreman”, “Great Guns”, “No Visitors”, “Honeymoon on Rhodes” and “Two Girls on the Town” will also be part of the release together with Production Notes and Talent Files of director J. Lee Thompson, Gregory Peck, David Niven, Anthony
Quinn and James Darren.

The movie’s plot revolves around Gregory Peck , Anthony Quinn and David Niven, three soldiers who are poised to secretly invade the Nazi-held Greek isle of Navarone with a plot to destroy the two large long-range field guns preventing the rescue of 2,000 trapped British soldiers. “The Guns Of Navarone” is a classic WWII film of entertaining, explosive action and individual heroic displays bound to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Presented in a brand-new 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer with a newly created 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track, “The Guns Of Navarone” will carry a suggested retail price of $24.95 when hits retail shelves on May 23.
