Columbia TriStar brings you Girl Interrupted in June

On June 6, Columbia TriStar Home Video will release a special edition of Girl Interrupted. Boasting an all-star cast, including Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie, Whoopi Goldberg, and Vanessa Redgrave, “Girl Interrupted” is a powerful coming of age story set in the 1960s.

Set in the changing world of the late 1960s, this is the searing true story of a young woman (Ryder) who finds herself prescribed for a “short rest” at a renowned mental institution for troubled young women. After spending nearly a year on the ward both flirting and struggling with the thin line between normal and crazy, she soon realizes she has to choose between the world of people who belong on the inside – like the seductive and dangerous Lisa (Jolie) – or the often difficult world of reality on the outside.

The special edition will feature a 16×9 enhanced widescreen version of the movie as well as a pan and scan transfer with a 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track in English. It will contain an audio commentary track by director James Mangold, and a series of deleted scenes, also with commentary by Mangold. The HBO First Look Documentary “The Making Of Girl Interrupted” will also be part of the release, as well as the film’s isolated score and extensive talent files. “Girl Interrupted” will carry a suggested retail price of $27.95.
