Columbia Tristar announces The Emperor And The Assassin for release in June

Columbia TriStar Home Video has just announced details for a release of Chen Kaige’s powerful historical, Chinese epic The Emperor And The Assassin on June 13. Winner of numerous awards, including the Grand Technical Award at the 52nd Cannes Film Festival “The Emperor And The Assassin” will make a glorious debut on DVD.

Set in the 20th Century B.C., The Emperor and the Assassin tells the story of Ying Zheng, a power-hungry heir to the throne of the kingdom of Qin. His only goal is to conquer other kingdoms existing in China and to merge them into his own, under his rule.

The DVD will feature a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer of the movie with its original Mandarin audio track and English subtitles. As supplements the release will feature a commentary track by director Chen Kaige, as well as some talent files and production notes.

“The Emperor And The Assassin” will carry a suggested retail price of $29.95 when it will be released on June 13.
