Columbia TriStar Home Video slated two new titles for release in May

Columbia TriStar Home Video just sent some new information our way regarding two upcoming DVD releases. On May 9, we will see the release of New Blood, an action gangland drama starring Nick Moran and John Hurt.

When Danny White turns up on the doorstep of his estranged father Alan after a seven year absence, bleeding from a gunshot wound, Alan realizes Danny just might be the heart donor who can save his ailing twin sister, Emma.
But Danny is not prepared to give up his heart for nothing. There is a price to be paid, and a deal to be struckbetween father and son. As it turns out, Danny and his crew of petty criminals are in over their heads after accidentally killing wealthy businessman Robert Williams during a botched mob ordered kidnapping. If they face up to the mishap, they will doubtlessly be taken out. In order to save his accomplices, Danny orders his father to stand in as Williams, whom the gangsters have never seen. But the mob plans to kill the kidnap victim once the ransom is paid. Alan understands this, but will do anything to give his daughter a chance.

The DVD of “New Blood” will contain a commentary track with director Mike Hurst as well as talent files. It will contain a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer as well as a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track and Spanish subtitles at a suggested retail price of $24.95

The second title on the list is a 20th Anniversary special edition of The Hollywood Knights, a rocking classic comedy reminiscent of “American Graffiti” that recalls the sophomoric antics of Animal House and Porky’s, starring Tony Danza, Michelle Pfeiffer, Fran Drescher and many others.

Led by their comedic and prank leader, Newbomb Turk, The Hollywood Knights car gang raise hell throughout Beverly Hills on Halloween night, 1965. Everything from drag racing to Vietnam to high school love. But those Beverly Hills snobs have another plan. They’re running the car club out of their town by closing down Tubby’s Drive-in, the car club’s favorite hangout. Duke, his girlfriend Susie Q. and Newbomb Turk retaliate. They create chaos for the snobs and lead the inept local police on a hilarious game of tag, culminating in a final showdown at Tubby’s.

The DVD will contain a 16×9 enhanced widescreen and a fullframe presentation of the movie with a newly remixed 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track. This release will also feature a commentary track by director Floyd Mutrux, theatrical trailers, production notes, and talent files, and carry at a suggested retail price of $24.95 when it hits retail shelves on May 9.
