By the end of last year, Palm Pictures released the Ibiza Allstars version of the dance remix single “Sun Is Shining” by Bob Marley. The worldwide hit single topped the charts internationally since it surfaced during the Ibiza “99 dance music festival last summer and it continues to top the dance charts across the globe. On February 1 now, Palm Pictures will be releasing on February 1st the Sun Is Shining: The Remixes DVD single which features two audio-visual versions of the single “Sun Is Shining”: “The Ibiza Allstars/Island Mix”, “The Messy Boys Remix”, as well as an audio only track “Island Mix – Extended Version.”

Committed to the DVD format, Palm introduced the “DVD single” into the marketplace in early ”99, as a means to present a new way of hearing and seeing music videos. The DVD single ventures beyond the CD single in that it offers visuals in addition to the standard audio tracks — a technology that can be played on home systems, as well as DVD-ready computers at the affordable cost of $7.98.

In association with Bob Marley Music and the Marley family, Palm Pictures worked with TNT Networks to host An All Star Bob Marley Tribute Concert in Oracabessa, Jamaica this past December to celebrate his music, his life and legacy. Palm will be releasing the concert film on DVD May 30, 2000. The artists who joined Rita and Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers on stage are Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, Queen Latifah, Chrissie Hynde, Busta Rhymes, Jimmy Cliff, Dr. John, Darius Rucker (of Hootie and the Blowfish), Ben Harper, Eve, Tracy Chapman, and Toots Hibberts (of Toots and the Maytals), with Stephen Marley as musical director.
