Sharp introduces new portable DVD player with larger LCD screen and longer battery life

With the consumer electronics show Comdex coming up next week, a palette of new product announcements are slowly coming in. Today Sharp a new portable DVD player with a 7-inch LCD screen. Delivering an extended 3-hour battery life,
sleek design, and enhanced performance — including a 16:9 widescreen
ratio and Virtual Dolby(R) Surround (Q-Surround) — the DV-L70U is the latest addition to Sharp’s lineup.

The DV-L70U is only slightly larger than a DVD jewel case and enables consumers to take the high quality entertainment experience virtually everywhere.

The DV-L70U uses a thin-profile 7-inch, 16:9 wide-format TFT LCD panel that, through the use of a low-reflectivity black matrix and AGLR (Anti-Glare Low-Reflection) polarizer, reduces reflection of ambient light. In addition, the DV-L750 uses Digital Super Picture Logic to provide even greater sharpness by adjusting brightness/contrast and clarifying outlines and picture details, while
reducing signal “noise.”

The DV-L70U allows system building with other devices that have S-Video Out, Composite Video Out or Audio Out compatibility. In addition, output from a video camera can be played back through the DV-L70U on the player’s large LCD screen.
The DV-L70U is equipped with a built-in optical digital audio output jack compatible with bit-stream output for DTS or Dolby Digital. It incorporates a 10-bit D/A converter, resulting in playback of high-resolution video images with clarity and crystal clear resolution. A built-in Surround decoder circuit provides audio playback of Dolby Digital 5.1 sound using only two speakers.
