A fully loaded Yellow Submarine is coming your way – check out the full details

MGM Home Entertainment has sent additional information on the upcoming release of the Yellow Submarine our way. After an 11-year moratorium the film now returns on VHS and DVD on September 14 with a wealth of bonus material, featuring a new, digitally renovated picture and a remixed Dolby Surround soundtrack.

Available in widescreen the “Yellow Submarine” will include supplements like a behind-the-sceens featurette entitled “The Mod Odyssey”, the film’s original theatrical trailer. It will also feature a commentary track by John Coates, one of the film’s animators, and Heinz Edelmann, “Yellow Submarine’s” designer. An isolated music-only track will also be found on the disc, featuring all the classic Beatles tunes from the film without the dialogues and sound effects. Interviews with many of the cast & crew members will be on the disc, as well as three storyboard sequences, two with footage that was not featured in the final film. The sequences are “Battle Of The Monsters” (not used in the film), “Pepperland” (not used in the film) and “Sea Of Monsters”.
To round-up this special edition MGM will also include behind-the-scenes photos from the making of the film and an 8-page booklet with inside information on “Yellow Submarine”.

As a special schmankerl for all fans of the Beatles, this release of “Yellow Submarine” will also include the never-before-released animated song “Hey Bulldog”!
