The Master Of Puppets takes on DVD – The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth

We have just received detailed information on two eagerly awaited releases from the Jim Henson library through Columbia Tristar Home Video. As we had reported earlier, Columbia Tristar has acquired the home video rights to Jim Henson’s films and finally the relationship is coming to fruition. On September 21, we will see Jim Henson’s storytelling masterpiece The Dark Crystal in a special edition, and the acclaimed Labyrinth starring David Bowie in an enchanting role.

“The Dark Crystal” is an unparalleled fantasy adventure and an award winning classic directed by the late Jim Henson and Frank Oz. Columbia Tristar Home Video will release the film with a 60-minute documentary and deleted scenes. The release will also give you a look at the original character drawings and profiles, as well as character language work prints. Trevor Jones’ stunning music score will be found on an isolated audio track, and the disc will also feature trailers, biographies and production notes. “The Dark Crystal” will contain a newly re-mixed 5.1 channel Dolby Digital soundtrack and come in an anamorphic widescreen presentation.

“Labyrinth” is a fantastic voyage into the land of dreams and gnomes, starring David Bowie and Jennifer Conelly among a riotous bunch of puppets, all brought to life by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Featuring a mesmerizing music score by Trevor Jones, the release will also contain a 60-minute documentary, biographies, production notes and trailers. “The Labyrinth” will be presented in an anamorphic widescreen version with a Dolby Surround soundtrack.
