Bob Guccione’s Caligula is coming to DVD in October

We have just received information that Penthouse owner and photographer Bob Guccione’s controversial and sexually-explicit 1979 move Caligula will come back to movie theaters in September to celebrate the film’s 20th Anniversary. After the theatrical run in selected theaters in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, and Chicago, the film will also see a re-release on video and DVD in a 20th Anniversary Special Edition.

“Caligula” is a very daring and artistic film that featured a strong cast led by Malcom McDowell, Sir John Gielgud,
Helen Mirren, and Peter O’Toole, showcasing the depravation and decadence of Ancient Rome. Adding to that some very violent images and explicit sexual content, gave the film a note that was quite remarkable, especially for its time.
