Pioneer will bring you the Judy Garland Show

Pioneer Entertainment will release on June 15, two complete episodes of The Judy Garland Show on DVD — that have never been released on any format — with her guests Liza Minnelli and Mickey Rooney. These early segments from Garland’s 1963-64 CBS-TV series showcase the superstar with the
two talents that meant the most to her: former MGM musical co-star Rooney, and daughter Liza.

The program with Rooney was the very first episode taped for Garland’s highly anticipated multi-million dollar series. Singing songs such as “How About You?,” “Our Love Affair,” “You’re So Right For Me” — and a sketch where they spoof their “Hey, Gang, Let’s Put On A Show” musicals — the pair proved they still had the old MGM chemistry. Judy’s solos include “I Feel A Song Coming On,” “When The Sun Comes Out,” “Who Cares?,” and the electrifying “Old Man River,” which remains one of the definitive moments of Garland’s 45-year career, and of television history.

Not widely seen since their original broadcast over 35 years ago, these two episodes are making their home video debut — on DVD including informative liner notes and rare outtakes never aired, the programs have been digitally remastered and restored from the original 2-inch videotapes, and are presented in both the original mono and newly created 5.1 surround tracks. You will have the feeling you’re in Studio 43 at CBS Television City in Hollywood for the legendary series known as “The Show That Got Away.”

These 26 episodes presented legends such as Tony Bennett, Lena Horne, Count Basie, Ethel Merman, Mel Torme, Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, and Donald O’Connor among others. Look for a deluxe multi-disc DVD box set from Pioneer Entertainment this Fall of “The Judy Garland Show.”
